Our Process

Initial Enquiry

Your journey with us starts with a conversation.

Following your enquiry, we’ll invite you to our purpose-built Leeds showroom to meet the team, explore ideas, and talk through your project in more detail. It’s a relaxed, informal session designed to help us truly understand your vision.

Bringing along floor plans, images, or inspiration is always helpful at this stage — the more we can see, the better we can shape your brief. Having a ballpark budget in mind is also useful, as it helps guide the overall specification and ensures we design within the right framework from the start.

Most importantly, we take the time to understand how you live. Your routines, your lifestyle, and what matters most to you all play a key role in shaping a space that feels personal, purposeful, and completely unique.

The meeting typically lasts between 30 minutes to an hour. Afterwards, we’ll put together a tailored design fee proposal based on your individual project.

Phase 1

The Brief & Initial Consultation

This is where your vision starts to take shape.

Following our first meeting, we take a deeper dive into your ideas, your lifestyle, and what you want your space to become. It’s about understanding not just how you want it to look, but how you want it to feel and function every day.

Using our experience and design expertise, we begin shaping a tailored concept — one that reflects your ambitions and enhances the way you live. Every detail is considered, ensuring the design is both beautiful and purposeful.

Where required, we collaborate with architects to bring the vision to life. This could be through our in-house team or by working closely with your existing architects, ensuring a seamless and well-coordinated approach from the very beginning.

Phase 2

Design Development

With your brief guiding every decision — and a strong understanding of both you and your home — we begin refining the design in detail. We look closely at how you live, shaping layouts that feel intuitive, functional, and effortlessly suited to your day-to-day life.

From here, we develop detailed lighting and M&E plans, carefully integrated with the architecture and overall design vision to ensure everything works seamlessly behind the scenes.

Bespoke joinery and furniture are designed alongside architectural details, finishes, and furnishings — bringing together every layer of the space. Using 2D drawings, realistic 3D visuals, and clear, comprehensive costings, you’ll be able to fully understand and visualise the final outcome.

The result is a complete, considered interior design package — where every element is aligned, refined, and designed to flow beautifully throughout your home.

Phase 3

Presentation

This is where your vision becomes real. We present your design in our Leeds showroom, guiding you through every detail in a clear and inspiring way. Through bespoke mood boards, carefully curated palettes, realistic visualisations, and considered spatial layouts, you’ll begin to see your space come together.

Each element is refined through ongoing studio sessions and site consultations, ensuring the design evolves in line with both your vision and the property itself.

This stage is all about clarity and confidence — giving you a true sense of how your finished interior will look and feel, brought together with the distinctive Ben Huckerby Design signature style.

Alongside the design, we provide fully itemised quotations, so you have complete transparency and a clear understanding of the investment for each interior scheme.

Phase 4

Technical Development and Project Coordination

This is where your interior project comes to life. Our team carries out detailed site surveys, technical drawings, and scheduling to ensure every element of the design is fully resolved and ready for production. Every detail is carefully considered, approved, and aligned — leaving nothing to chance.

We manage the entire project from concept through to installation, attending regular site and supplier meetings to ensure the design is delivered exactly as intended.

With a trusted network of skilled suppliers and craftspeople, we oversee the manufacturing process from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition into installation.

To complete the journey, we offer a full turn-key service, including final styling. Many of the finishing touches are curated — and in some cases created — by Ben himself, with the belief that it’s these details that truly bring a space to life.
